Atlanta psychiatrist Seth Pope, MD, has served as a Psychiatric Consultant to correctional facilities and to a mental health center. He has also worked as a forensic psychiatrist expert witness and in hospital settings. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Ghana and earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University's Medical School. While fulfilling a psychiatry residency at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, Seth Pope, MD, became Chief Resident at Emory University Hospital.
At Fulton County Mental Health Center and Correctional Medical Systems, Inc., both in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Seth Pope worked with patients affected by chronic and acute mental illness, as well as alcohol and drug abuse. In his private practice in Atlanta, his adult and adolescent patients include those facing chemical dependency; dual diagnosis conditions, such as comorbid chemical dependency and psychiatric illnesses; anxiety or mood disorders; and psychoses. Dr. Pope’s modes of treatment include psychotherapy, psychopharmacotherapy, and the biopsychosocial model. He also has practiced at a number of psychiatric hospitals in the Atlanta area, including Ridgeview Institute in Smyrna and SummitRidge Hospital in Lawrenceville. In addition, Dr. Pope provided consultations at medical facilities, including Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, and maintained an inpatient practice in Atlanta at the Hughes Spalding Medical Center, Peachford Behavioral Center at Atlanta, Ridgeview Institute, Brawner Hospital, Joan Glancy Hospital, Emory Dunwoody Medical Center, and Emory Northlake Medical Center.
Sharing his success, Seth Pope, MD, contributes funds and efforts to provide quality housing for individuals recovering from addiction. The former president of a hospital medical staff and chair of several hospital committees, Dr. Pope takes pleasure in boxing, golfing, and gardening in his leisure time. Additionally, Dr. Pope enjoys viewing graffiti art, traveling, and watching the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 racing team.
